Harding Women's Tennis Blanks Depleted Ouachita

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Ouachita Baptist women's tennis team once had eight players, but due to injuries and transfers the Tigers are down to four and one of those retired from an injury twice during Harding's 9-0 blanking Wednesday at the Heflin Tennis Center. Only four of the nine scheduled matches went to their completion.

With the victory, Harding improved to 5-3 overall. Wednesday's match did not count as a Great American Conference match. Harding and Ouachita will meet again on April 3 in Searcy.

In the one completed doubles match, Harding's No. 1 team of Piper Huey and Laura Golubic won 8-2 and improved to 9-4 as a team this season. Emily Faulkner and Milou Dalmolen led 5-0 at No. 2 doubles when the match ended due to an injury to Ouachita's Baylee McBride. Harding won at No. 3 doubles by default.

Huey, Arielle Butler and Erin Young all won their singles matches in straight sets. Faulkner led 3-0 in the first set when McBride withdrew from the match. Harding won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default. The victory for Huey was her 57th, tying her with Gina Cielo (2008-12) for 13th in career singles wins at Harding.

The victory was Harding's 12th straight over Ouachita.

Harding will be back in action on Friday against Northwest Missouri, the ninth-ranked team in the Central Region. The match will be in Springfield, Missouri, at 10 a.m.
