Harding Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight, Downs Emporia State 8-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Harding women's tennis won its fourth consecutive match Tuesday with an 8-1 victory over Emporia State of the MIAA.
Harding improved to 8-3 with the victory and dropped Emporia State to 4-3.

Harding won two of the three doubles matches, the third time during the winning streak that the Lady Bisons won at least two in doubles.

Emily Faulkner and Milou Dalmolen made quick work of Emporia at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-0. It was their fifth doubles victory in eight matches together. Harding's No. 1 team of Piper Huey and Laura Golubic won 8-5, their fourth straight win and their team-leading 12th overall.

Harding won all six singles matches, five of them in straight sets. Huey defeated Emporia's Tawni Griffey in a third set tiebreaker. Griffey entered the match ranked 16th in Central Region singles. It was Huey's first win over a regionally ranked player this season and ninth of her career.

Gabriella Alves won her sixth straight singles match at No. 3 and improved to 8-1 this season in singles. Arielle Butler won at No. 5, her team-leading 13th singles victory.

Central Oklahoma, the No. 5 team in the Central Region, is Harding's next opponent. The teams play Friday in Edmond, Oklahoma.
