Central Oklahoma Defeats Harding Women's Tennis, 5-3

EDMOND, Okla. - Harding women's tennis won two of three doubles matches Friday against Central Oklahoma, the No. 6-ranked team in the Central Region, but the Bronchos won three of four three-set singles matches and clinched in straight sets at No. 5 to defeat the Lady Bisons 5-3.

Harding had won four straight prior to Friday's lost and fell to 8-4. The Lady Bisons are back in action Saturday at Southern Nazarene in Harding's first Great American Conference match. Central Oklahoma, a member of the NCAA II MIAA, won its third straight and improved to 8-6.

Harding's No. 1 doubles team of Piper Huey and Laura Golubic won its fifth straight doubles match and its 13th of the season. Huey and Golubic are 8-3 in No. 1 dual doubles matches. Emily Faulkner and Milou Dalmolen won 9-8 at No. 3, their sixth victory together in nine matches.

With the 2-1 lead, Harding needed three wins in singles but got only one. It came from junior Gabriella Alves, who won 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. It was her seventh straight singles win and moved her to 9-1 in singles matches this season.
