Harding Women's Tennis Wins Four Matches at ITA Central Region Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Harding women's tennis had two singles players and both doubles teams advance one round before seeing the team's tournament come to an end late Friday.

In singles action, senior Gabriella Alves and freshman Hana Folse both won their matches in the round of 64. Alves defeated Erin Streeter of Minnesota State 6-1, 6-0, but lost to the tournament's No. 1 seed, Kornelia Staniszewska of Augustana, 6-0, 6-2 in the round of 32.

Folse opened the tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Olivia Keelin of MSU Moorhead before falling to No. 4 seed Molly Worden of Northeastern State 6-0, 6-2.

Harding senior Laura Golubic lost 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 to Logan Morrissey of Washburn in the round of 64, and junior Arisa Takanashi lost to No. 6 seed Kateryna Shkot of Oklahoma Baptist 6-1, 6-3.

Both doubles teams won their round-of-32 matches before losing in the round of 16. Golubic and Takanashi won their first match 9-7 over Mayra Jovic and Easton Parker of Northeastern State, but fell 8-6 to Diana Cabrera and Lucia Diaz of Southwest Baptist in their next match.

Alves and Folse also won their first doubles match of the tournament, 8-0 over Lavanya Singh and Lara Peco of Upper Iowa. The duo lost 8-3 in the round of 32 to Klara Vickov and Jill Van den Dungen of Southwest Baptist.
