Top 10 – Today in Harding Sports
  1. The day opens with Harding's track teams in action at the Indoor Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University. Harding's distance medley relay teams both ran NCAA provisional times Friday, and junior Chelsea Howard ran a personal-best and NCAA provisional in the 200 meters.
  2. Harding baseball was scheduled to conclude its three-game series with St. Edward's Saturday, but rain overnight washed out the final game. The teams split Friday with St. Edward's winning 4-1 in game one and Harding winning 3-1 in game two.
  3. Harding women's tennis will take Nebraska-Kearney of the MIAA on Saturday at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri. The Lady Bisons fell 7-2 to No. 12 Drury Friday but Harding's doubles team of Gabriella Alves and Hana Folse extended their winning streak to five matches, as did junior Arisa Takanashi in singles.
  4. Harding's men will also take on Nebraska-Kearney in Springfield. Watch for Harding freshman Morgan Salvan. The Frenchman has won five straight singles matches and has a team-best 13-2 singles record. He also teamed with Alejandro Sendra Friday in upsetting Drury's No. 1 doubles team, ranked No. 6 in Division II. It was the highest ranked NCAA doubles team ever beaten by a Harding duo.
  5. Harding women's basketball has moved up into a three-way tie for fifth place in the GAC standings and looks to win for the sixth time in its last seven home games Saturday against Southern Nazarene, a team Harding has defeated all five times they have met in Searcy.
  6. Watch for Harding senior Sydney Layrock, who needs 12 points against Southern Nazarene to move into sixth place in career scoring at Harding. Layrock has 1,451 points and could pass Stacey Owens (1,462, 2006-10) for sixth place. In seven career games vs. Southern Nazarene, Layrock has averaged 14.4 points and has scored 20 twice.
  7. Harding men's basketball will look to do something for the first time in program history Saturday against No. 10 Southern Nazarene. The Bisons have never defeated an NCAA top-10 team at home. Its last win over a top-10 team was a 74-70 victory over No. 6 Midwestern State in 2013 in a neutral site game played in Russellville, Arkansas.
  8. Harding has won three of its last four games, but Southern Nazarene has won the last four meetings between the teams.
  9. Southern Nazarene's men enter the game on a 15-game winning streak, tied for the longest in Division II.
