Today's Harding Sports Top 10
  1. Harding softball starts off the day Sunday after posting consecutive shutouts over Upper Iowa and Fort Hays State on Saturday.
  2. Harding is 5-1 to open the season and will meet Washburn (8-3) and Nebraska-Kearney (2-6). Harding and Washburn will be meeting for the first time. Harding has split two games with Nebraska-Kearney, winning 15-2 in 2015 and losing 7-4 last season.
  3. Harding has four shutouts in its first six games and the pitching staff has a 1.26 ERA with 33 strikeouts and five walks in 39 innings.
  4. Harding currently has three hitters batting .400 or higher – Peyton Mills (.421), Katie Carney (.412) and Katlyn Gordon (.400).
  5. Freshman Madison Leggett went 0-for-8 in her first three games, but in the last three, she is 5-for-8 (.625) with three home runs and seven RBIs.
  6. Harding baseball will look to win the series against Northwestern Oklahoma. The Bisons and Rangers split Saturday's games with Northwestern winning the opener 6-2 and Harding taking game two 9-1.
  7. Sophomore Miles Humphreys enters the game with a team-best five-game hitting streak. He is 6-for-13 (.461) with three doubles during the streak.
  8. Through nine games, Harding has 27 extra-base hits to only 18 for its opponents. Chris Taylor and Luke Van Dover lead the team with four extra-base hits each.
  9. Harding's pitching staff has a 2.43 strikeout-to-walk ratio with 56 strikeouts and 23 walks. Jackson Ward (13), Tanner Smith (12) and Austin Allen (12) are Harding's strikeout leaders.
  10. With its second nine-run second inning of the season Saturday, Harding has now outscored its opponents 24-3 in the second inning of games this season. Harding is hitting .362 with an 1109 OPS (on-base percentage + slugging percentage) in the second inning.
