Harding Women's Tennis Sweeps Weekend Matches, Defeats Collin 8-1

PLANO, Texas – Harding women's tennis concluded a sweep of three weekend matches with an 8-1 victory over Collin College, the No. 12-ranked junior college.

Harding won two of the three doubles matches with Gabriella Alves and Hana Folse earning the Lady Bisons' first point with an 8-2 victory at No. 2. Laura Golubic and Arisa Takanashi made it 2-0 with an 8-4 victory at No. 1.

Collin's only point came with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Harding dominated the singles matches, winning all six matches in straight sets.

The first finished was freshman Paulina Kostka at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 win to give Harding a 3-1 lead. Alves won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 against Jayme Waites, the No. 47-ranked junior college singles player, and moved Harding within one point of clinching.

The clinching point came at No. 3, where Takanashi won 6-1, 6-0. Takanashi also clinched Harding's win over Texas Wesleyan on Saturday.

Folse (No. 4), Emily Faulkner (No. 6) and Golubic (No. 2) also won in straight sets.

Harding's next action is Thursday against Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.
