Harding Wins Central Region Matchup, Downs Northwest Missouri 5-4

SEARCY – Harding's women won a clash of regionally ranked teams Saturday at the Harding Tennis Cournts, defeating Northwest Missouri State 5-4. Harding is seventh in the NCAA II Central Region, and Northwest Missouri is eighth.

Harding (10-3) won two of the three doubles matches. Laura Golubic and Arisa Takanashi won 8-1 for their seventh consecutive victory. Harding also won a tight 8-6 match at No. 3 with Emily Faulkner and Jordan Shaw winning for the ninth time this season.

Harding pushed its lead to 3-1 with Golubic's 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3, but Northwest tied the match 3-3 with straight-sets wins at No. 2 and No. 5.

Harding freshman Hana Folse put Harding back in the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4, tying her for the team lead with 12 singles victories.

The clincher came from another Harding freshman, Polina Kostka, who won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.

Harding's women are off until Wednesday, March 28, when they open Great American Conference play at Oklahoma Baptist.
