Takanashi Named ITA Central Region Most Improved Senior

SEARCY – Harding's Arisa Takanashi received the ITA Most Improved Senior Award for the NCAA Division II Central Region Wednesday.

Takanashi, a sport and recreation management major from Yokohama, Japan, posted a 22-4 record as a senior, including 18-2 at No. 2 singles. She concluded her season ranked 38th nationally and won her last 11 matches. She was 18-6 in singles as a junior. In her two-year career at Harding, Takanashi went 40-10 in singles, the fourth-best career singles record in program history.

Takanashi and her doubles partner Rylie Cox ranked eighth in Division II in the most recent national rankings. Takanashi had a 21-6 doubles record as a senior, including a 12-2 mark at No. 1 doubles. She had a 27-9 doubles record at No. 1 and 38-17 overall.

Takanashi is the first Harding player ever to receive the ITA Most Improved Senior Award.
