CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Harding women's tennis team concluded its spring break road trip Friday afternoon, falling 4-1 to Delta State University at the Cleveland Country Club.
The Lady Bisons (3-10) found success in the doubles portion and at the top of the singles lineup, but the Lady Statesmen (6-8) proved too strong across the middle flights to clinch the non-conference dual.
Doubles Play
Harding opened the match with a strong showing at No. 3 doubles. Ece Boylu and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz continued their recent success as a pairing, defeating Lena Kuehn and Angela Moreno 6-3. The victory marks the second straight win for the duo.
However, Delta State managed to secure the doubles point by taking the top two courts. Yasmina Mayer and Amelia Ciesielczyk held off Harding's No. 5-ranked tandem of Karli Roux and Brooke Coffman 6-4, while Anastasiia Iakovlieva and Trinity Ly took the No. 2 spot 6-2.
Singles Results
Senior Karli Roux provided the lone point for Harding in singles play. Ranked No. 39 in the nation, Roux won in straight sets at the No. 1 position against Amelia Ciesielczyk.

With the dual decided, the matches at No. 5 and No. 6 involving Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz and Paula Rega were abandoned.
