Carpenter Sisters Lead Lady Bisons at GAC Fall Individual Championships

The Harding women's tennis team captured three individual titles on Saturday at the GAC Fall Individual Championship in Russellville, Arkansas. Allison and Lindy Carpenter teamed up to win the Flight 1 doubles championship, while their sister, Emily Carpenter won the Flight 3 singles tournament. Allison Carpenter also captured the Flight 6 singles title. 
 
Allison and Lindy Carpenter won their first-round match 6-1 against a Henderson State team. In the quarterfinals, the sisters matched their first-round score of 6-1 against Southern Arkansas. The duo went on to defeat Southeastern Oklahoma and Henderson State in the semifinals and finals respectively. 
 
In Flight 1 singles, Grace Dodd won her opening match 6-1, 6-3. She defeated Mulan Kamoe of Henderson State in the quarterfinals before facing two players from Southeastern Oklahoma. Dodd defeated Sara Gonzalez in a third set match tiebreaker in the semifinals before falling to Skye Royal in the final. 
 
Romane Britt fell in her opening match in Flight 1, dropping her to the Flight 2 quarterfinals. Britt defeated Olivia Gaston from Ouachita Baptist and Kamoe to advance to the Flight 2 finals. Britt fell 8-3 to Lena Milosevic of Southern Arkansas. 
 
Emily Carpenter won her Flight 3 quarterfinal match against Elizaveta Tregubova of Southeastern Oklahoma before beating Melanie Griffiths of Arkansas Tech 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the finals. Carpenter defeated another Golden Sun, Daniela Baez 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 to capture the Flight 3 singles titles.
 
JingJing Yang won three matches in Flight 5 singles to make the finals. Yang defeated Isabella Major of Arkansas Tech, Inna Serpukhova of Southern Arkansas in straight sets to reach the semifinals and defeated Shelly Davilus of Ouachita Baptist in three sets to advance to the final before falling to Vanessa Cozamanis of Southeastern Oklahoma. 
 
Allison Carpenter dropped her Flight 5 quarterfinal match and fell to the Flight 6 quarterfinals. After a withdraw, Carpenter defeated Major 8-3 in the semifinal and defeated Southern Arkansas's Simone Simas in the final.
 
Rachel McCrae won a tight three set match in the Flight 7 quarterfinals before a 6-4, 6-3 semifinal win over Meaghan Butler of Arkansas Tech before falling to Maria Krite of Arkansas Tech in the final.
 
The Lady Bisons will return to action this weekend October 1-3 in Oklahoma City at the ITA Regional Championships.
