Women’s Tennis Stays Solid at Third in Central Regional Rankings

The No. 34-ranked Harding women's tennis team remained at No. 3 in the second release of the Central Regional Rankings on Wednesday (April 20). The Lady Bisons are 17-4 on the season and are coming off clinching their second straight GAC Regular Season Championship with a 4-3 over Arkansas Tech.

The MIAA grabbed five spots in this week's poll with Washburn jumping up to No. 4 after being unranked just a week ago. Central Oklahoma stayed at No. 1 while Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri State and Nebraska-Kearney all drop one spot and are No. 5, 6, and 7 respectively.

Augustana, the NSIC Regular Season Champions, are the only representatives from the NSIC and are ranked No. 2. Southeastern Oklahoma State is the other GAC team in this week's poll after they dropped to No. 8.

The Lady Bisons are 4-1 against teams ranked in the Central Region this week with wins over Northwest Missouri State, Missouri Western, Washburn, and Southeastern Oklahoma State and the only loss coming to Nebraska-Kearney.

The top six teams from the Central Region will advance to the Regional Tournament beginning on May 6. The top two teams from the Central Region will host a three-team tournament with the winner advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 17-21.

The Lady Bisons have made nine appearances in the NCAA Regional Tournament and are 3-9 all time. The last appearance came last season when the Lady Bisons were the No. 4 seed.

The Lady Bisons will play in the GAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m. against the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 match.
