Clark Sets New HU Javelin Mark at ASU Red Wolf Open

JONESBORO, Ark. – Sophomore Anna Kay Clark broke her own school record Saturday to highlight the performances of the 24th-ranked Harding women's outdoor track and field team at the Red Wolves Open, hosted by Arkansas State University.

A native of Hoover, Alabama, Clark launched the first of her six throws 47.02 meters or 154 feet, 3 inches, to break her previous mark of 153 feet, 1 inch.

Clark's throw moved her into sixth place in the NCAA Division II national rankings in the javelin.

Junior Jenna Akins was the lone event winner for the Lady Bisons. Akins won the triple jump with a mark of 12.03 meters or 39 feet, 5.75 inches. Akins' jump would have been an NCAA provisional mark but the wind was just over the allowable limit for the jump to count for qualification. It was the longest triple jump by a Lady Bison this season.

Sophomore Sierra White recorded Harding's other provisional, clearing 3.96 meters or 12 feet, 11.75 inches in the pole vault. Her season-best clearance is 4.10 meters or 13 feet, 5.25 inches, which ranks eighth nationally.

Sophomore Briana Johnson ran the fastest time this season by a Harding athlete in the 200 meters. Her time of 25.12 seconds was also a PR.

Eight other Lady Bisons set a PR at the meet. Those were sophomore Alyssa Couey (59.15, 400 meters); sophomore Miah Maples (1:00.47, 400 meters); senior Sydney Tabor (5:08.05, 1,500 meters); sophomore Kylie Phillips (5:19.27, 1,500 meters); freshman Emily Patterson (1.60m, 5-3, high jump); sophomore Lindsey Parker (3.26m, 10-8.25, pole vault); sophomore Jessica Davis (35.51m, 116-6, hammer throw); and freshman Sydney Soto (33.74m, 110-8, javelin throw).
