SEARCY – Harding had three women's tennis players and a women's golfer named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 At-Large team, announced Friday.
Receiving the honor were senior tennis players Allison Carpenter, Emily Carpenter and Lindy Carpenter and senior golfer Abbey Bryan.
District 7 is comprised of schools from the Great American Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Allison Carpenter, a native of New Braunfels, Texas, will graduate in May with Bachelor of Arts degree in integrated marketing communication. She had a 4.00 GPA in her undergraduate work.
Allison had an 18-9 singles record in 2021-22 and an 18-14 doubles record. In her career, Allison was 64-26 in singles and 54-36 in doubles. Her 64 singles wins rank 13th all-time at Harding and her 54 doubles wins rank 18th.
Last year, Allison earned CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-America after capturing her first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. She has twice earned Great American Conference Elite Scholar Athlete and is a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete recipient.
Emily Carpenter of New Braunfels, Texas, will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Business Administration in management. She finished with a 4.00 undergraduate GPA.
Emily had a 19-12 singles record and 15-18 doubles record during the 2021-22 season. She had a 59-34 career singles record and 59-40 career doubles mark. Emily is 16th at Harding in career singles wins and tied for 11th in career doubles wins.
This is Emily's second CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. She is also a two-time GAC Elite Scholar Athlete recipient and a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete honoree.
A native of New Braunfels, Texas, Lindy Carpenter will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Business Administration in management. She had a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Lindy had a 21-12 singles record and 21-13 doubles mark in 2021-22. In her career, Lindy was 65-34 in singles and 61-34 in doubles. She is tied for 11th in career singles wins and ninth in career doubles victories.
Lindy earned Second Team All-GAC in 2022 and was a First Team All-GAC honoree in 2019. She has twice earned GAC Elite Scholar Athlete honors and is a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete.
With the three honors for the Carpenter sisters, Harding has had 23 women's tennis players earn CoSIDA Academic All-District since 2001.
Bryan is a native of Big Spring, Texas, and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering. She had a 4.00 GPA.
Abbey had a 78.8 stroke average over 21 rounds in 2021-22. She ranks sixth all-time at Harding with an 81.0 career stroke average.
Abbey's Academic All-District honor is her first and the fourth for Harding women's golf. She joins fellow award winners Taren (Massey) Swindle (2007, 2008) and Brooklyn Terry (2019).
The Carpenters and Bryan will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Ballot, which will be released June 15.
