Harding Women's Track Places Second at GAC Meet

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Harding women's track and field placed second of 10 teams at the Great American Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by Oklahoma Baptist.

Harding scored 247 points in the meet, trailing only Oklahoma Baptist's 255.

The GAC also handed out its Elite and Distinguished Scholar Athlete awards. Harding's Jenna Akina, Brianna Hall, Miah Maples, Molly Passmore and Kylie Phillips received the Elite Scholar award as all five own 4.00 GPAs.

A total of 26 GAC standouts earned the Distinguished Scholar accolade. Harding's honorees were Jessica Davis, Sierra White and Brylan Williams.

Below is a breakdown of Harding's results by event.

4x100 relay

Harding points: 4 … Harding's team of Anne-Noelle Clerima, Jenna Akins, Krisman Eakin and Sarah Gautreaux placed fifth in 47.82

1500 meters

Harding's top finisher in the event was Ellie Fantauzzo, who placed 16th in 5:17.47

100-meter hurdles

Harding did not have a finalist in the event

400 meters

Harding points: 14 … senior Anne-Noelle Clerima became Harding's first conference champion in the 400 meters since Shauna Queen won the AIC meet in 1993 … Clerima clocked a time of 56.43 seconds … senior Kinga Szarzynska placed sixth (3 points) in 58.12 seconds … sophomore Alyssa Couey added a point in eighth place at 1:00.53

100 meters

Harding did not have a finalist in the event

800 meters

Harding points: 13 … senior Kinga Szarzynska won the event for the third time … she won by .01 seconds, finishing in 2:18.41 … she was also the champion in 2018 and 2021 … senior Celia Stramrood placed sixth (3 points) in 2:23.62

400-meter hurdles

Harding points: 6 … senior Anne-Noelle Clerima placed third in 1:02.67 to earn six points

200 meters

Harding points: 6 … senior Anne-Noelle Clerima placed third in 25.09 to earn six more points

5,000 meters

Harding points: 3 … sophomore Nieves Megias placed sixth (3 points) in 19:00.60

4x400 relay

Harding points: 8 … Harding's team of Kinga Szarzynska, Krisman Eakin, Celia Stramrood and Anne-Noelle Clerima placed second in 3:55.60

Discus

Harding points: 20 … Harding had four athletes among the scorers … junior Cooper Monn placed second (8 points) with a toss of 41.26 meters or 135 feet, 4 inches … senior Tessa TeGrootenhuis placed third (6 points) at 40.80 meters or 132 feet, 10 inches … sophomore Madison Hiteshew placed fifth (4 points) at 39.16 meters or 128 feet, 6 inches, and sophomore Kaylee Hausam placed seventh (2 points) at 37.76 meters or 123 feet, 11 inches

Long Jump

Harding points: 9 … junior Jenna Akins placed second (8 points) with a PR of 5.82 meters or 19 feet, 1.25 inches … she moved into second on Harding's career performers list with the jump … it was also her first career NCAA provisional mark … freshman Grace Carter also set a PR to finish eighth (1 point) at 5.22 meters or 17 feet, 1.50 inches

High Jump

Harding points: 24 … junior Brylan Williams became the first Lady Bison to win the high jump (10 points) at the GAC meet since Bailey Pearson in 2016 … Williams cleared 1.64 meters or 5 feet, 4.50 inches … freshman Emily Patterson placed second (8 points) by clearing 1.59 meters or 5 feet, 2.50 inches … freshman Kiera Blankinship was third (6 points) … she also cleared 1.59 meters or 5 feet, 2.50 inches

Pole Vault

Harding points: 16 … sophomore Sierra White won the event for the second straight year … she cleared 3.90 meters or 12 feet, 9.50 inches … junior Sarah Gautreaux placed fourth (5 points) with a clearance of 3.60 meters or 11 feet, 9.75 inches, and sophomore Lindsey Parker added one point for an eighth-place finish with a clearance of 3.20 meters or 10 feet, 6 inches

Shot Put

Harding points: 30 … Harding claimed the top four spots and five of the top eight … senior Cara Mason won the shot put for the second straight year and won by more than two feet … her top shot put was 13.53 meters or 44 feet, 4.75 inches … junior Cooper Monn placed second (8 points) with a mark of 12.70 meters or 41 feet, 8 inches … senior Tessa TeGrootenhuis was third (6 points) at 12.44 meters or 40 feet, 9.75 inches … sophomore Anna Kay Clark was fourth (5 points) at 12.33 meters of 40 feet, 5.50 inches … sophomore Jessica Davis added another point with an eighth-place finish at 11.40 meters or 37 feet, 5 inches
