RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Harding women's tennis team competed in the GAC Individual Championships in Russellville on Friday and Saturday and took home three of the four doubles flights championships.
In Flight 1 singles, Karli Roux won her first two matches before eventually falling to Mulan Kamoe of Henderson State in the final. Alexia Zarate Valdez dropped the opening match of Flight 4, before bouncing back with two victories and took home the consolation title.
Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz took home the Flight 6 singles title, winning three times along the way. Itza Rogel won two matches and took home the consolation title for Flight 7 singles. The Lady Bisons had three of the four semifinalists in Flight 8 singles and Natalia Alvarez took home the title.
In doubles action, Romane Britt and Roux made their way to the Flight 1 Doubles final before falling to Southern Arkansas's Greta Wallin and Annika Berrendorf 6-4. In Flight 2 Doubles, Grace Dodd and Georgia Plunkett won their two matches to take home the Flight 2 title defeating Henderson State.
Madison Stafford and Zarate Valdez dropped only seven games over three matches as they captured the Flight 3 Doubles title. Rogel and Sarmiento Ruiz made their way to the consolation finals before falling. Alvarez paired with Reka Pecsi, captured her second title of the weekend, winning Flight 4 doubles.
The Lady Bisons will return to action on February 7 against Hendrix in Conway.
