SEARCY – The Associated Press and the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association both released their All-America teams Wednesday. Harding offensive lineman Hunter Willis and defensive lineman Nathaniel Wallace earned First Team honors on both teams, and running back Blake Delacruz earned Second Team honors on the AP team.
Willis is a native of Kimberly, Alabama, and Harding's starting left guard. He is the top offensive lineman for a Harding team that set an NCAA record with 5,659 rushing yards and 74 rushing TD.
Wallace is a native of Bryant, Arkansas, and was the Great American Conference and Super Region 3 Defensive Player of the Year. He has 8.5 tackles for loss, including 7.0 sacks.
Delacruz, a junior from Springfield, Missouri, has rushed for 1,296 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Willis and Wallace are the sixth and seventh AP All-Americans in Harding football history. Current Harding head coach Paul Simmons was the first in 1994. Others include Super Bowl winner Torrance Daniels (2005), Harding Hall of Famer Robert Towns (2006), HU passing yardage leader David Knighton (2007), current HU safeties coach Sam Blankenship (2017) and offensive lineman Gavin De Los Santos (2017).
