Box Score 2 The Harding women's tennis team opened the Spring season on Sunday in Conway falling to Central Arkansas in back-to-back matches. Harding fell 5-2 in the first match before getting swept 7-0. Harding is now 0-2 on the year. UCA moved to 2-3 on the season.
The Lady Bisons won the doubles point in the opening match. After the Bears won at the No. 3 line, Harding won at the top two lines to take the first point of the match. Freshmen
Georgia Plunkett and
Karli Roux made their dual debut for the Lady Bisons at No. 1 doubles and won 6-4.
Lina Romero and
Jing Jing Yang also won 6-4 at No. 2.
In singles action, Romero picked up the only singles victory for Harding, winning 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 line. The win was Romero's 18
th of her career, and her 12
th at No. 2 singles.
In the second match of the day, the Bears swept the Lady Bisons 7-0. In doubles action, Romero and Yang won their second straight match at No. 2 doubles, posting their second 6-4 victory over Jaeun Lee and Nicole Ross. In singles, the Bears won all six matches in straight sets.
The Lady Bisons will return to Conway on Wednesday, February 8 when they take on Hendrix beginning at 5 p.m. Harding is 46-0 all time against Hendrix, including a 27-0 record on the road.
