Harding's Gage Price Places Fifth in Upshaw Award Voting

SEARCY, Ark. — Harding University nose guard Gage Price has been recognized as one of the top defensive linemen in NCAA Division II football, finishing fifth in the voting for the Gene Upshaw Award. This marks the highest finish by an interior defensive lineman since Jake Visser of Ferris State placed third in 2008.

A senior from Hamburg, Arkansas, Price was a dominant force on the Bisons' defensive line this season, recording 37 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. His outstanding performance helped Harding lead the nation in total defense (200.6).

Price was one of eight finalists for the Gene Upshaw Award, presented annually by the Manheim Touchdown Club to the top offensive or defensive lineman in NCAA Division II football. Although he did not take home the top honor, his fifth-place finish is a testament to his exceptional skills and contributions to the Harding University football program.

Harding head coach Paul Simmons praised Price's selection as a finalist, saying, "Gage is extremely deserving of this honor. Not only is he a great football player—relentless and passionate—but he also is a fantastic teammate. He is loyal. He loves the guys around him, and he has given everything he has to the program, becoming one of the all-time greats here at Harding."
