Onufriieva Sets New School Record at Crimson and Gold Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Harding University women's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2024-25 season at the Crimson and Gold Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The event featured a 300-meter flat track.

Highlights from the Event

The team had a strong showing, with a new school record and two NCAA provisional marks in the triple jump. To qualify for the indoor national track meet in March, athletes must achieve a provisional mark or time and rank among the top 20 nationally.

Sophomore Hanna Onufriieva (Kyiv, Ukraine) broke the school record in the triple jump with a provisional mark of 12.14m (39-10) on her fourth attempt, finishing third. She surpassed her teammate and countrymate Karyna Vehner's previous record of 11.93m (39-01.75).

Vehner also achieved a provisional mark, placing fourth with a jump of 11.78m (38-7.75).

Onufriieva's mark currently ranks fifth nationally in NCAA II, while Vehner's mark is ninth in NCAA II ... freshman Carly Tucker recorded a long jump of 5.41m (17-9), the longest by a Lady Bison in 35 seasons (Letha Stewart, 18-7, 1989).

Lisa Retailleau's third-place finish in the 600 yards (1:25.72)

Cella Nguema's seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88)

Ally Cheek's seventh-place finish in the high jump (1.60m, 5-3)

Emily Patterson's ninth-place finish in the high jump (1.55m, 5-1)

The Harding University women's indoor track and field team will compete next at the Samford Invitational, hosted by Samford University at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday, January 18.
