Box Score The Harding women's tennis team took on No. 12-ranked Tampa in Memphis on Monday morning and fell 5-2. The loss snaps the Lady Bisons five-match winning streak and pushes them to 7-4 on the season with three additional wins against junior colleges.
The Lady Bisons fell behind 1-0 after getting swept in the doubles action. It was the first time in five matches the Lady Bisons lost the doubles point.
The Spartans pushed their lead to 3-0 after taking straight set victories at No. 2 and No. 5. Alexia Zarate Valdez earned the Lady Bisons first point of the match with 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Zarate Valdez has won six straight matches and is 10-6 overall. The Spartans clinched the match right before Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz picked up her team leading 11th win of the season winning 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3.
The Lady Bisons will return to action next Wednesday March 13 as they host McKendree beginning at 11 a.m.
