Box Score In their third match in as many days, the Harding women's tennis team defeated Henderson State 6-1 on Sunday at the Elliott Tennis Complex. The Lady Bisons improved to 13-7 on the season and 2-2 in conference play and they also have three additional wins against junior colleges.
Doubles action saw Georgia Plunkett and Alexia Zarate Valdez open the match with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles before Grace Dodd and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz clinched the opening point with a tight 7-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action Madison Stafford won the first match for the Lady Bisons at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Natalia Alveraz won for the second straight day, coming from behind to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Roux clinched the match for the Lady bisons with a 7-6, 6-4 victory. Sarmiento Ruiz and Karate Valdez both picked up tough three set victories at No. 4 and No. 3 to finish the day.
The Lady Bisons will return to action on Friday April 19 in Russellville to take on Arkansas Tech in a pivotal GAC match beginning at 2 p.m.
