Nguema Breaks Hurdles Record at Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Harding University's women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Samford Invitational on Friday, with several athletes achieving new national rankings and provisional NCAA qualifying marks in the 2025 indoor season.

Freshman Jerlana Williams led the way, finishing second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.59 seconds, earning her the 22nd national ranking in Division II and a provisional NCAA qualifying mark.

Junior Cella Nguema also had a notable performance, finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.73 seconds, a personal record that broke her own school record of 8.77 seconds, set last in 2024. This time also earned her the 15th national ranking in Division II and a provisional NCAA qualifying mark.

Sophomore Hanna Onufriieva finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.13 meters (39-09.75), achieving a provisional NCAA qualifying mark.

Other notable performances included:

Tetiana Kharashchuk, who finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.82 seconds, earning her the 24th national ranking in Division II.
Leila Ngapout, who finished 15th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.20 seconds, earning her the 51st national ranking in Division II.
Josie Parks, who finished 13th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:26.93, earning her the 58th national ranking in Division II.
Kiera Blankinship, who finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.66 meters (5-05.25), earning her the 25th national ranking in Division II.
Ally Cheek, who finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.61 meters (5-03.25), earning her the 60th national ranking in Division II.
Cadence Sansom, who finished eighth in the pole vault with a height of 3.67 meters (12-00.50), earning her the 32nd national ranking in Division II.
