Eight Harding Football Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

SEARCY – Harding's football team boasted eight players named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced Tuesday.

To qualify, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status, maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and participated in 90% of the team's games or started in at least 66% of games.

Harding's Academic All-District honorees included Braden Jay, Blake Delacruz, Jake Dugger, Cayden Pierce, Ty Dugger, Cole Keylon, Dylan Daring, and Tirrell Johnson.

The CSC's Academic All-America committee selected Jay, Delacruz, Pierce, and Jake and Ty Dugger to appear on the Academic All-America ballot, recognizing their outstanding combination of athletic and academic achievements.

Here's a brief overview of each student-athlete:
  • Braden Jay, a senior marketing major from Cabot, Arkansas, boasts a 3.73 GPA. He started all 14 games at slot back, rushing for 1,080 yards and 13 touchdowns.
  • Blake Delacruz, a senior criminal justice major from Springfield, Missouri, maintains a 3.68 GPA. He started all 14 games at fullback, rushing for 813 yards and 13 touchdowns.
  • Jake Dugger, a graduate student in information systems from Searcy, Arkansas, holds a 3.90 GPA. He started all 14 games at right tackle.
  • Cayden Pierce, a senior exercise science major from West Monroe, Louisiana, has a 3.75 GPA. He played in 11 games with 10 starts at linebacker, making 55 tackles.
  • Ty Dugger, a senior accounting major from Searcy, Arkansas, boasts a 3.91 GPA. He started all 14 games at safety, making 42 tackles with four interceptions.
  • Cole Keylon, a senior social science major from Harrison, Arkansas, maintains a 3.51 GPA. He started all 14 games at quarterback, passing for 843 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 584 yards and seven touchdowns.
  • Dylan Daring, a senior computer science major from Fultondale, Alabama, holds a 3.62 GPA. He started all 14 games at left guard.
  • Tirrell Johnson, a junior sport and recreation major from Wynne, Arkansas, has a 3.67 GPA. He started 13 games at defensive end, making 22 tackles.
Notably, Delacruz, Jake Dugger, and Ty Dugger received CSC Academic All-America honors last season. This year's Academic All-America team will be announced on Tuesday, January 28.
