Central Oklahoma Edges Harding 4-2 in Women's Tennis

EDMOND, Okla. — Central Oklahoma secured a narrow 4-2 victory over Harding in women's tennis action on Friday at the Oak Tree Tennis Center.

The Bronchos took two of the three doubles matches to claim an early advantage. Pete Komada and Nefeli Zafeiri edged Karli Roux and Alexia Zarate Valdez 7-5 (7-6) in the No. 1 doubles match, while Ayaka Kogo and Anika Ouwejan downed Natalia Alvarez and Itza Rogel 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match.

In singles competition, Harding's Alexia Zarate Valdez, ranked 14th nationally, cruised to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Nefeli Zafeiri in the No. 1 singles match. Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz also secured a win for the Bisons, defeating Anika Ouwejan 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match.

However, Central Oklahoma's depth proved decisive, as the Bronchos claimed victories in the No. 2, 4, and 6 singles matches to seal the win.

With the loss, Harding falls to 3-3 on the season, while Central Oklahoma improves to 2-1.
