ROME, Ga. — The Harding women's doubles team of Karli Roux and Brooke Coffman saw their run in the championship bracket end Friday, falling to the tournament's top-seeded team in the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup.
Roux and Coffman, a senior-freshman pairing, were defeated 6-0, 7-6 (5) by Kristyna Hranacova and Katja Markus of Nova Southeastern. After being shut out in a quick first set, the Bison duo rallied strongly in the second, pushing the No. 1 seeds to a decisive tiebreaker before ultimately falling 7-5.
The loss moves Roux and Coffman to the North consolation bracket, where they will compete for fifth through eighth place. They are set to play Yona Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny of UT Tyler on Saturday at 5 p.m. Bancarel and Gorzny are a formidable pairing who have previously been ranked in the national top 20 for doubles.
