HU Women's Track Team Breaks 4x400 Relay Record at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Harding women's track and field team delivered several strong performances at the Music City Challenge, with multiple athletes achieving NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.

Tetiana Kharashchuk led the way, securing a provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter dash with a second-place finish in 55.11 seconds. She also anchored the Bisons' record-breaking 4x400-meter relay team, which achieved a provisional qualifying time of 3:48.73, shattering the previous school record of 3:49.25 set last season. The relay team consisted of Lisa Retailleau, Leila Ngapout, Jayden Bowman, and Kharashchuk.

In the field events, Cadence Sansom cleared 3.87 meters (12-8.25) in the pole vault to earn a provisional qualifying mark, while teammate Karyna Vehner also achieved a provisional qualifying mark with a clearance of 3.72 meters (12-2.5).

Hanna Onufriieva secured a provisional qualifying mark in the triple jump with a leap of 12.11 meters, good for seventh place.

Other notable performances included Jerlana Williams' 15th-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63 seconds, and Carly Tucker's fourth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.54 meters (18-2.25). Tucker become only the second Lady Bison with a jump over 18 feet and had the best long jump mark since Letha Stewart set the Harding record at 5.56 meters (18-7) in 1989. Dinah Winders ran 5:03.04 in the mile, moving her into Harding's career top five in the event.

The Bisons' strong showing at the Music City Challenge sets the stage for continued success in the indoor track and field season.
