Harding's Maddox Long Named National Pitcher of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Harding pitcher Maddox Long has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on February 23, 2025.

Long, a fifth-year pitcher from Morrilton, Arkansas, earned the honor after recording his second-straight 10-strikeout performance in a 7-2 win against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He fanned 10 across 6.0 scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit and one walk. He improved to 4-0 and lowered his ERA to 1.08.

The performance also marked a milestone for Long, as he became the first Harding pitcher ever to reach 300 career strikeouts.

Long also repeated as the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week and was named the Central Region Pitcher of the Week. He becomes only the second Harding pitcher to earn four conference pitcher of the week honors in a career, joining Justin Phillips (2007-08).
