SEARCY – The Harding men's tennis team earned the No. 16 ranking in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point, released Tuesday. In addition to the team's impressive standing, two Bisons have also earned national recognition in singles, and one Harding duo is ranked among the nation's top doubles teams.
Leading the charge for the Bisons in the national singles rankings is Cas de Ruiter, who holds the No. 10 position. The senior from Gouda, Netherlands is 14-10 overall and 8-7 in dual matches, all at No. 1 singles. He has three wins this season over nationally ranked opponents. He has a 13.16 World Tennis Number (WTN).
Joining de Ruiter in the national singles rankings is teammate Adrian Solorzano, who is ranked No. 19. The junior from Morelia, Mexico, has also been a key contributor for the Bisons, posting a 15-6 overall record and 10-4 mark in dual matches, all at No. 2 singles. He has one win over a nationally ranked opponent and has won his last four matches overall. He has a 13.27 WTN.
In doubles, de Ruiter and Solorzano have earned a No. 27 national ranking. They are 10-9 overall and 7-5 in dual matches, all at No. 1 doubles.
The team continues MIAA-South Division play Friday at 2 p.m. in Searcy against No. 46 Southern Arkansas.
