Harding Women Earn Victories and Provisional Marks with Season-Best Performances

SEARCY - The Harding women's track and field team experienced a successful weekend, securing several event wins and NCAA Division II provisional qualifying performances both at the Dan Veach Invitational hosted by Southern Arkansas and the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational earlier in the week. Many of the performances at the Dan Veach Invitational also marked season bests for the Lady Bisons.

At the Dan Veach Invitational, the 4x400-meter relay team delivered a standout performance, crossing the finish line first in an NCAA provisional time of 3:48.34. In the pole vault, Cadence Sansom continued her impressive season, winning the event with a season-best and NCAA provisional clearance of 3.81 meters (12' 6").

Adding to the provisional qualifications from earlier in the week, junior Josie Parks achieved an NCAA provisional mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational, finishing in 10:58.20.

Back at the Dan Veach Invitational, freshman Jerlana Williams had a strong showing in the sprints, winning the 100 meters in a season-best time of 11.90 seconds. Junior Dinah Winders led the distance crew, taking first place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:53.47. The 4x100-meter relay team also secured a victory in a season-best time of 46.82 seconds.

In the field events at Southern Arkansas, freshman Carly Tucker won the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.57 meters (18' 3.25"). Senior Kiera Blankinship cleared a season-best 1.66 meters (5' 5.25") to win the high jump, with sophomore Ally Cheek finishing close behind in second place at 1.63 meters (5' 4.25"). Freshman Rachel Millikan also earned a victory in the discus with a season-best throw of 45.22 meters (148' 4"). Additionally, freshman Kiera Bartlett threw a season-best 33.62 meters (110' 4") to finish second in the javelin. Sophomore Carley Hall also recorded a season-best mark of 12.12 meters (39' 9.25") in the shot put, finishing fourth.

Other notable performances at the Dan Veach Invitational included sophomore Veagen Jones finishing second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.16, and junior Kaylie Washko winning the 5,000 meters in 19:27.20. Freshman Molly Fantauzzo placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:25.06.

Overall, it was a successful stretch for the Harding women's team, marked by multiple victories and significant NCAA provisional qualifications across two meets, with numerous season-best performances highlighting their progress at the Dan Veach Invitational. The Lady Bisons compete next weekend in meets at Arkansas and Arkansas State with the GAC Championships the following week.
