Harding's Ogunmakinju Sets NCAA Provisional Time in 400 Meters at Bryan Phillips Invitational on Senior Day

SEARCY, Ark. (April 6, 2025) - The Harding University women's outdoor track and field team had a strong showing at the Bryan Phillips Invitational, with standout performances from several athletes. Junior Omolara Ogunmakinju set an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 400 meters, finishing first with a time of 54.89 seconds.

Ogunmakinju's impressive performance was just one of many highlights for the Lady Bisons. In the 100 meters, sophomore Leila Ngapout took first place with a time of 12.14 seconds, while freshman Kewes Gomes finished third in 12.67 seconds. Freshman Jerlana Williams led the way in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line first in 25.19 seconds, with Ngapout taking second in 25.45 seconds.

In the 800 meters, junior Dinah Winders and senior Veagen Jones finished second and fourth, respectively, with times of 2:18.67 and 2:19.67. Junior Josie Parks dominated the 1500 meters, taking first place in 4:43.12.

The Lady Bisons also excelled in the relays, with the 4x100 team of Ngapout, Gomes, freshman Kadi Vaughn, and Williams taking first place in 47.79 seconds. The 4x400 team of freshmen Jayden Bowman, Ngapout, Lisa Retailleau, and Ogunmakinju finished first in 3:55.73.

In the field events, sophomore Ally Cheek cleared 1.63m (5' 4.25") to take first place in the high jump, while junior Karyna Vehner won the pole vault with a height of 3.50m (11' 5.75"). Freshman Carly Tucker took first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.52m (18' 1.5") and also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.06m (36' 3.5").
