SEARCY – The Harding men's tennis team concluded its 2025 season with a historic finish, achieving its highest-ever national ranking at No. 21 in the final ITA NCAA Division II Rankings. This surpasses the previous program record of 34th set in 2021. The Bisons achieved an impressive 15-7 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the Central Region Tournament.
Individually, senior Cas de Ruiter capped off an outstanding career with a 19-12 overall record, earning him the No. 8 ranking in Division II singles. Junior Adrian Solorzano also impressed, going 19-9 and securing the No. 23 national ranking in Division II.
The formidable doubles pairing of de Ruiter and Solorzano compiled a 17-9 record, leading to an impressive No. 11 national ranking.
De Ruiter's No. 8 singles ranking is the highest achieved by a Harding men's tennis player in the program's NCAA Division II era, which began in 1997-98. This surpasses the previous record set by Dani Ortiz, who was ranked No. 23 in 2023. The No. 11 doubles ranking for de Ruiter and Solorzano marks the third time in the last three seasons that Harding has featured a top-12 national doubles team, with de Ruiter being a key part of all three achievements.
In the year-end Central Region rankings released by the ITA, Harding's men's team was ranked third. Regionally, de Ruiter was ranked fourth in singles, while Solorzano was seventh. The doubles team of de Ruiter and Solorzano earned the No. 2 regional ranking, and the pairing of Florian Gayme and Cian Mikkelsen also made the list at No. 10.
Harding's women's tennis team also saw national recognition, with two players earning national singles rankings: No. 13 Alexia Zarate Valdez (20-9) and No. 46 Karli Roux (17-7). Regionally, the Lady Bisons finished No. 8 in the Central Region. Zarate Valdez was the No. 2 ranked singles player in the region, and the doubles team of Zarate Valdez and Roux was ranked No. 9.
