Harding's Roux, Coffman Make History in Central Region Doubles

EDMOND, Okla. (September 21) - The Harding women's tennis team made a strong showing at the ITA Central Region Tournament, with four players competing in singles and doubles action. The Central Region is comprised of teams from the Great American Conference, MIAA and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The highlight of the weekend came from doubles team Karli Roux and Brooke Coffman, who advanced to the ITA Central Region Championship Match, a first for the Harding women's tennis program. They defeated Maria Fiacan and Fernanda Sandoval of Augustana 8-1 in the semifinals before falling 6-1, 6-1 to Central Oklahoma's Pete Komada and Ayaka Koga in the finals.

In singles action, Roux finished with a 2-1 record after losing 3-6, 6-1, 5-7 to Riko Konno of Washburn in the Round of 16. Coffman compiled a 2-2 record, falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to Emilia O'Neill of Southeastern Oklahoma in the Flight A Consolation Quarterfinals.

Mia Hosking and Kenna Kelley also competed in singles, with Hosking advancing to the Flight B Consolation Quarterfinals after a 7-6, 1-6, 11-9 win over Isabella Lazzerini of Southern Arkansas. Kelley lost 6-4, 6-3 to Daisy Barrow of Northeastern State in the Flight B Round of 32 after winning her opening match against Emma Rangel of Sioux Falls 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.
