RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following a weekend where she posted one of the fastest times in the nation, Harding senior Tetiana Kharashchuk has been named the Great American Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
A native of Kolomiyia, Ukraine, Kharashchuk delivered a standout performance in the 400-meter dash at the Wooo Pig Classic, hosted by the University of Arkansas. Competing in a field primarily comprised of elite Division I programs, Kharashchuk crossed the finish line in 54.77 seconds.
The time was not only the fastest in the GAC this season but also earned her a 15th-place finish overall, making her the top non-Division I finisher in the event.
Kharashchuk's performance secured an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks 11th nationally in Division II. It stands as the premier 400m time in the conference by nearly three full seconds.
This marks the fifth weekly honor for the Harding track and field programs this season. Senior jumper Hanna Onufriieva was also nominated for Field Athlete of the Week after breaking her own school record in the triple jump with a leap of 12.24m (40-02).
Kharashchuk and the Lady Bisons continue their season this weekend at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee, hosted by Vanderbilt University on Feb. 13-14.
