FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Jerlana Williams and senior Hanna Onufriieva delivered record-breaking performances Friday to lead the Harding women's track and field team at the Arkansas Qualifier, hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center.
Against a field featuring some of the top programs in the nation, the Lady Bisons bolstered their national standing with two new school records and multiple top-five finishes.
Williams Speeds to History
Jerlana Williams made history in the 60-meter dash, breaking her own school record twice in the same afternoon. After clocking a 7.53 in the preliminaries, Williams unleashed a blistering 7.47 (+) in the finals to place fourth overall. The time shaved one-hundredth of a second off her previous mark set earlier this season and solidified her position as one of the premier sprinters in NCAA Division II.
Onufriieva Dominates the Triple Jump
In the triple jump, Hanna Onufriieva continued her stellar senior campaign by shattering her own school record. Onufriieva's third attempt measured 12.43m (40-09.50) (+), eclipsing her previous record of 40-02.00. The mark earned her a third-place finish in the meet and significantly improved her standing on the national performance list.
Senior Karyna Vehner added to the successful day in the pits, placing fifth with an NCAA provisional mark of 12.03m (39-05.75) (+).
Sprints and Field Success
Senior Tetiana Kharashchuk turned in one of the strongest 400-meter performances of her career, placing 11th with a time of 54.10 (+). The mark is an NCAA provisional time and ranks among the fastest in program history.
In the throwing circle, freshman Yedidya Bangue secured a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a top toss of 13.50m (44-03.50).
Senior Cadence Sansom led the Lady Bisons in the vertical jumps, placing seventh in the pole vault by clearing 3.85m (12-07.50). In the long jump, school record-holder Carly Tucker placed 11th at 5.62m (18-05.25), followed by Eva Gommier in 12th with a leap of 5.40m (17-08.75).
