Williams, Onufriieva Sweep Final GAC Weekly Honors After Record-Breaking Weekend

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After a historic Friday in Fayetteville that saw two program records fall, Harding's Jerlana Williams and Hanna Onufriieva have swept the Great American Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, the league office announced Tuesday.

The duo led a dominant showing for the Lady Bisons at the Arkansas Qualifier, which resulted in the program climbing 23 spots to No. 28 in the latest national rankings.

Track Athlete of the Week: Jerlana Williams (So., Princeton, Texas)

Williams earns Track Athlete of the Week honors after a remarkable day in the 60-meter dash. The sophomore solidified her status as the fastest woman in Harding history by breaking her own school record twice in a single afternoon. After clocking a 7.53 in the preliminaries, Williams unleashed a career-best 7.47 in the finals to place fourth overall. The time is the fastest in the GAC this season and moved Williams to No. 15 on the NCAA Division II national performance list.

Field Athlete of the Week: Hanna Onufriieva (Sr., Kyiv, Ukraine)

Onufriieva captures the Field Athlete of the Week accolade following a career-best performance in the triple jump. The senior shattered her own Harding school record with a leap of 12.43m (40-09.25), earning a third-place finish at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center. The record-breaking mark moved Onufriieva into a tie for No. 6 in the nation, all but guaranteeing her a high seed at the upcoming national championships.

Harding concludes the indoor regular season with seven total GAC Athlete of the Week honors. The Lady Bisons now turn their attention to the postseason selection process. The official championship fields for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships will be posted by the NCAA by 5 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, March 3.
