FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior Hanna Onufriieva etched her name deeper into the program history books Saturday, breaking her own school record in the triple jump to lead the Harding women's track and field team at the Wooo Pig Classic, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Competing at the world-renowned Randal Tyson Track Center, the Lady Bisons faced a formidable field featuring multiple Division I programs, including Arkansas, Notre Dame, and Missouri State.
Onufriieva Resets the Standard
Hanna Onufriieva provided the highlight of the day in the triple jump pit. The senior unleashed a leap of 12.24m (40-02) to finish fourth overall, officially breaking her previous school record of 40-00.75 set in 2025. The mark is a strong NCAA provisional qualifier and cements her status as one of the top jumpers in Division II.
Teammate Karyna Vehner also secured a provisional mark in the event, placing seventh with a jump of 12.07m (39-07.25). Vehner added a top-10 finish in the pole vault earlier in the day, clearing 3.55m (11-07.75).
Chasing History in the Sprints and Jumps
Several other Lady Bisons flirted with school records during the meet:
-
Long Jump: Sophomore Carly Tucker earned a fifth-place finish with a mark of 5.65m (18-06.50). Her jump was a mere half-inch shy of Letha Stewart's 37-year-old program record (18-07.00).
-
60 Meters: Sophomore Jerlana Williams clocked a sharp 7.63 seconds in the preliminaries to finish 13th. Williams, who already holds the school record in the event (7.48), remains the only athlete in program history to break the 7.50 barrier.
-
Pole Vault: Senior Cadence Sansom took sixth place with a provisional clearance of 3.85m (12-07.50). Sansom continues to chase her own record height of 13-04.25 set last season.
Kharashchuk Leads the Track
Tetiana Kharashchuk turned in the premier performance on the oval for Harding. Competing in the 400-meter dash, Kharashchuk clocked 54.77 seconds to finish 15th overall. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier and ranks among the fastest in the Central Region. Sophomore Jayden Bowman followed in 34th with a time of 57.78 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, senior Kaia Bieker cracked the top 10 with a 10th-place finish in 2:17.33, while freshman Oreoluwa Odenike led the 200m crew with a finish of 25.59 seconds.
Throws and High Jump
Freshman Yedidya Bangue earned a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.63m (44-08.75), while junior Ally Cheek cleared 1.60m (5-03) to place 10th in the high jump.
