Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – Harding baseball used a historic power display to extend its winning streak to seven games Friday, sweeping a doubleheader from Southern Nazarene at Furlong Field. The Bisons took the opener 19-7 before launching six home runs in a 17-3 victory in the nightcap.
Harding (26-16, 19-10 GAC) has now won nine consecutive games against the Crimson Storm (9-35, 1-28 GAC) and remains firmly in third place in the Great American Conference standings.
Game 1: Harding 19, Southern Nazarene 7
The Bisons' offense exploded for 19 runs, their highest output since the opening week of the season. Easton Jones led the charge, going 3-for-4 and finishing just a single shy of the cycle. Jones tied a season high with four runs scored and set a new season best with four RBIs. His 19th double of the season moved him into a tie for fourth place on Harding's single-season list.
Collin Helms recorded the first multi-home run game of his career, hitting two long balls and driving in three runs. Cooper Newsom also made history, appearing in his 200th career game as a Bison and contributing a three-run double.
On the mound, Kyle Lane (7-0) became the first Harding pitcher to start a season with seven straight wins since Merritt Jay in 2023. Lane worked five innings to earn the win, while Keaton Baird provided three innings of perfect relief to secure his second save.
Game 2: Harding 17, Southern Nazarene 3
The home run derby continued in the second game as Harding tied a program record for the second-most home runs in a game with six.
The power surge peaked in the fifth inning when Nathan Bowie, Easton Jones, and Cooper Newsom all homered in the same frame. Newsom finished the game with two home runs, marking the third multi-homer game of his career. Bo Solley and Collin Helms also added home runs during a nine-run seventh inning that put the game out of reach.
Ryan Romolo (6-2) tossed a complete-game seven-inning masterpiece, allowing just three runs on five hits while striking out five.
Harding drew a combined 17 walks across the two games, including four by Nathan Bowie in the opener to tie his career high.
The Bisons will look for the series sweep on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
