Harding's Nathan Bowie Named GAC Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following a dominant week at the plate that helped fuel Harding's current winning streak, senior left fielder Nathan Bowie has been named the Great American Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Bowie, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, was the offensive catalyst for the Bisons during a 4-0 week that included a midweek win over Henderson State and a weekend sweep of Southern Nazarene.

The senior finished the four-game stretch hitting .500 (7-for-14) and showcased elite table-setting abilities by scoring 12 runs. In Tuesday's 9-6 victory over Henderson State, Bowie turned in a 3-for-4 performance that included a home run and four runs scored.

Bowie's impact extended beyond just hits, as he displayed the patient eye that has made him the conference leader in walks. In the series opener against Southern Nazarene, he drew four walks and crossed the plate three times. He capped the weekend by homering in each of the final two games of the series—a two-run blast in game two and a solo shot in the finale.

This is the first GAC Player of the Week honor for Bowie this season. He is currently among the national leaders in walks and runs scored, anchoring a Harding lineup that has moved into third place in the GAC standings.

Harding's Keaton Baird was among those nominated for Pitcher of the Week following a strong performance in relief during the Bisons' perfect 4-0 stretch.
