  •  Pitched for the baseball team in 1936, 1937, 1938 seasons
  • Earned fame at Harding after striking out 26 batters in a 13-inning 4-4 tie with Arkansas Tech on Apr. 26, 1937.
  • Signed with the St. Louis Cardinals after the 1938 season
  • Three-time All-AIC
  • Led Harding to the 1938 AIC Championship
  • Returned to Harding during the 1938-39 school year, but was not eligible to play baseball.
  • Played basketball for Harding during the 1936-37 and 1937-38 seasons.  Served as a volunteer coach on the 1938-39 team
  • Also pitched for the Pirates and Dodgers
  • Went 19-11 with the Dodgers in 1950 and 22-3 in 1951, earning “Pitcher of the Year” honors from The Sporting News.
  • Lifetime record of 127-84 with a 3.43 earned run average.
  • Pitched in three World Series with a 2-1 record and 2.54 earned run average.
  • Inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1967, the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1976, and the Harding Hall of Fame in 1989.
