Served as the head coach of the Harding football team for 24 years from 1964-1987.
Led the Bisons to AIC titles in 1972 and 1976.
Named NAIA District 17 Coach of the Year in 1969, 1972 and 1976 and NAIA Area IV Coach of the Year in 1976.
His 1972 squad finished the season 10-1, including a 30-27 victory over Langston in the Cowboy Bowl, still Harding's lone postseason football victory ... Harding finished the season ranked No. 6 in the final NAIA poll.
Was the sixth-winningest coach in NAIA with 114 victories when he retired in 1987.
Coached 10 NAIA All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans and 63 All-AIC honorees.
