Coaching Milestone: Head Coach Keith Giboney Captures 300th Win

DENTON, Texas – The Harding volleyball team completed the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic Saturday afternoon as they swept Texas A&M-International, 3-0 and defeated host team Texas Women's, 3-1. It was the first time since 2003 the Lady Bisons have started the season 4-0.

Head Coach Keith Giboney picked up his 300th career victory after the Lady Bisons defeated Texas A&M-International.

In the first game, Harding had to keep battling the whole match but came out on top, winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-22. 25-23). Freshman outside hitter Mollie Arnold led the Lady Bison offense with 13 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Reagan Smith added 12 kills on 21 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage.

In the second game, Harding gave up the first set 27-25 against host team Texas Women's but didn't allow the Pioneers to win another set as they went on to take the 3-1 (25-27, 25-22, 25-5, 25-19) victory.

The Harding offense dominated in the game with 60 kills, four players ended with double figure kills. Leading the way was Arnold who had 17 and Smith had 12. Sophomore right side hitter Bailee Graham had a season high 11 kills, junior middle blocker Alex Smith also had a season high with 10 kills.

The Lady Bisons defense had a season high 72 digs. Three players ended with double-figures. Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate led the way with 18 digs, Arnold picked up her second career double-double with 13 digs. Sophomore Amber Schinzing added 10 digs to the total.

Schinzing controlled the Harding offense, ending with 51 assists. It was the first time in her career she has had more than 50 assists in a game.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action next week Sept. 10 and 11 as they participate in the Missouri-St. Louis tournament. Harding takes on host team Missouri-St. Louis at 12:30 p.m. on Friday Sept. 10.
