Women’s Basketball Falls in First Exhibition Game

Senior guard Sierra Rollins captured a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Harding women's basketball team fell to Missouri State 88-56 on Sunday in their first exhibition game of the season.

Casey Garrison and Jaleshia Roberson each had 23 points for the Lady Bears. Garrison was 7-of-10 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Roberson made a game-high seven 3-pointers.

Missouri State, a NCAA Division I member of the Missouri Valley Conference, was 29-of-65 from the field and 10-of-20 from behind the arc.

Senior guard Sierra Rollins captured a double-double for the Lady Bisons with 15 points and 13 rebounds, including a game-high six offensive rebounds. Sophomore forward Kristen Celsor and senior forward Kallie Bartee each had nine points for HU.

Missouri State led at halftime 59-22 after shooting 21-of-35 from the field (60 percent). In the first half, the Lady Bears were 7-of-10 from behind the 3-point line.

Harding held Missouri State to only eight field goals in the second half, including three 3-pointers.

The Lady Bisons will travel to Kansas City, Mo., to face NCAA Division I opponent Missouri-Kansas City on Monday at 7 p.m., in their second of three exhibition games before their start of the regular season.
