SEARCY – Harding men's basketball plays the fourth of six home games to open the season Monday when it hosts 12th-ranked Christian Brothers at Rhodes Field House. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
The game will air live on KVHU 95.3-FM in Searcy and on Harding's TV16. Billy Morgan and
Scott Goode will be on the call. Live video, audio and statistics will also be available on HardingSports.com.
Harding enters the game with a 3-0 record and is coming off a 92-58 victory over Champion Baptist last Tuesday. The Bisons made 16 3-pointers in the game with freshman
Tony Cochran and junior
Zach Kirby hitting four 3-pointers each. Senior
Zach Roddenberry was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and had 19 points and six rebounds. Freshman
Andraz Kavas had 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bisons have been outstanding in the first half of its first three games. Harding has outscored its opponents 140-75 in the first half, giving the Bisons an average halftime lead of 21.7 points.
Roddenberry leads the Great American Conference early on in scoring (22.3) and rebounding (9.3), and Cochran leads the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (61.1 percent) and free throw percentage (100 percent, 6-of-6).
Christian Brothers is also 3-0 and will be playing its first game this season against an NCAA Division II opponent. The Bucs were picked to finish second among the eight teams in the Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Christian Brothers was ranked 16th in the NABC Division II Preseason Rankings and moved up four spots in the poll released on Nov. 20.
The Bucs are led by senior forward Michael Drake, who averages 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Harding and Christian Brothers are meeting for the 68th time with the Bisons leading the series 35-32. Harding leads the series 21-10 in Searcy, but Christian Brothers has won three of the last four meetings at Rhodes Field House.
Harding is looking for its first home win over a nationally-ranked team since an 80-66 victory over 15th-ranked North Alabama in 2008.
