Harding Softball Falls to Northwest Missouri; Pittsburg State on Saturday

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The Harding softball team fell to Northwest Missouri 13-5 and Pittsburg State 6-2 on Saturday in the second day of the Arkansas-Monticello Tournament. The Lady Bisons fall to 4-3 on the season.

Game One

The Harding softball team couldn't recover after giving up three runs in the top of the fifth as they fell to Northwest Missouri (1-2) 13-5 in six innings.

The Bearcats scored three in the first, three in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Harding pulled within a run in the third as they scored five. With bases loaded, sophomore Jessica Greene singled that drove in freshman Marley Edwards for Harding's first run. Sophomore Kinsey Beck drove in the Lady Bisons second run and freshman Kimmy Hendricks hit a double that scored Beck and Greene. Harding's last run came on a passed ball with Hendricks crossing the plate.

Harding had five hits in the game, three coming in the third.

Northwest Missouri was led by Chantel Adams who hit two homeruns and drove in four RBI.

Sarah Baldwin got her first win of the season for Northwest Missouri. She gave up all of Harding's runs and hits. Danielle Hubbard got the loss for Harding, pitching six innings.

Game Two

The Harding softball team took a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the third but Pittsburg State (2-1) hit a two-run homerun to regain the lead and held Harding scoreless the rest of the game as the Lady Bisons fell 6-2.

Jessica Greene and Kinsey Beck got drove in a run Harding. Brookelynn Moon had three hits to lead the Lady Bisons.

Bailey Letts went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Pittsburg State. McKenzie Rynared hit the homerun for the Gorillas and went 2-for-2.

Haleigh Silles got the win for Pittsburg State, pitching three 2/3 innings. She gave up three  three hits and struck out three. Amber Rollins got the loss for Harding in four innings pitched.

Harding will wrap up the tournament on Sunday as they face Oklahoma Panhandle at 11:30 a.m., and Drury at 3:30 p.m.
