MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Harding softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader to Southeastern Oklahoma in Great American Conference action on Friday. The Lady Bisons fell 7-6 in the first game and 14-2 in the second game. Harding drops to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the GAC.
It was Harding's first GAC games on the road.
Game One
Harding got on the board first in the top of the first inning when Kimmy Hendricks drove in Brookelynn Moon from first on a double. Southeastern Oklahoma scored two in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Bisons tied the game in the third with a run and then took the lead in the fifth. Harding took a 6-2 lead in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs on four hits. The Savage Storm answered back with four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Southeastern Oklahoma hit two homeruns in the inning. Harding left two runners on in the top of the seventh. Southeastern Oklahoma scored the game winning run with a bases loaded walk.
Moon, Hendricks and Kinsey Beck all had two hits in the game for Harding. They also each had an RBI. Moon's RBI came on her second homerun of the season.
Southeastern Oklahoma was led by Haley Strawn and Courtney Riddle who each had an RBI.
Jacee Bennett got the win for Southeastern Oklahoma (2-2) on five innings pitched. Bennett struck out four and gave up three runs. Amber Rollins got the loss for Harding (4-3).
Game Two
Southeastern Oklahoma took an eight-run lead after the bottom of the first inning on eight hits led by a two-run homerun by Arianna Jones.
The Savage Storm tacked on five more runs in the fourth inning, led by Shayna Milam who had a two-run homerun. Harding had four errors in the inning.
Harding scored its first run in the second was when Amanda Berdon grounded out to the shortstop that scored Kimmy Hendricks. The Lady Bisons' second run came in the fifth inning when Heidi Abston singled to third base that scored Courtney Chambers from third.
Mindy McElroy (5-2) got the win for Southeastern Oklahoma pitching all five innings. Danielle Hubbard (5-3) got the loss for Harding.
The two teams will wrap up their series on Saturday in a doubleheader that starts at 11 a.m.
