DURANT, Okla. – The Harding softball team won the first game of the doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma in Great American Conference action 6-4 but fell in the second game 7-1. The Lady Bison move to 11-8 overall and 4-4 in the GAC.
Southeastern Oklahoma (10-7, 5-3 GAC) won the series 3-1.
Game One
Harding scored three runs in the top of the first. Kinsey Beck got the RBI single that scored Courtney Derrick from third for the first run then Mackenzie Jones hit a double down the left field line that scored Carolyn Clayton and Kimmy Hendricks.
Southeastern Oklahoma answered back in the bottom of the first with a three-run homerun by Arianna Jones.
The Savage Storm took a one run lead as they scored one in the bottom of the second when Mindy McElroy scored on a Harding throwing error. Harding pitcher Amber Rollins then threw five scoreless innings.
The Lady Bisons got the go ahead runs in the third inning when they scored on three home runs hit by Brooklynn Moon, Kinsey Beck and Mackenzie Jones.
Rollins got the win for Harding moving her to 5-3 on the season. She pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on four hits as she struck out five. Mindy McElroy (5-3) got the loss pitching three innings and gave up seven hits and all six of Harding's runs
Game Two
Harding got on the board in the top of the first inning when Brooklynn Moon doubled to center that scored Courtney Derrick from second.
Southeastern Oklahoma took the lead in the bottom of the second when Laramie Beal hit a two-run homerun to give the Savage Storm a 2-1 lead.
Southeastern Oklahoma held Harding scoreless the rest of the way as they tacked on one in the third, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.
The Lady Bisons outhit the Savage Storm 9-8.
Shayna Milam (3-2) got the win, pitching 5 2/3 innings. She gave up eight hits and struck out four. Danielle Hubbard (5-4) got the loss for Harding.
The Lady Bisons will back in action next weekend as they host East Central Friday and Saturday at the Harding softball field. First pitch on Friday is at 1 p.m.
