Harding Softball Falls at Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team fell to Southern Arkansas in Great American Conference action on Saturday, 2-1 and 13-1.

The Lady Bisons fall to 15-14 on the season and 7-9 in the GAC. Southern Arkansas improves to 15-11 and 10-6 in the GAC.

Game One

The game was scoreless through five innings. Harding scored the go ahead run in the top of the six on a Kimmy Hendricks single up the middle that scored Courtney Derrick from third. The Lady Bisons had runners at second and third but couldn't drive them in.

Harding again held Southern Arkansas scoreless in the bottom of the six but couldn't in the bottom of the seventh. With runners at second and third with two outs, Maddie Dow singled to right field that drove in both runs to get the Lady Muleriders the win.

Harding had four hits in the game but left six runners on base.

Shelby Miller (6-5) got the win for Southern Arkansas as she threw the complete game. Miller struck out seven and walked one batter. Amber Rollins (8-6) got the loss for Harding. Rollins struck out seven and walked three.

Game Two

Harding got on the board first in the top of the first when Carolyn Clayton singled up the middle to score Courtney Derrick. Southern Arkansas answered back in the bottom of the inning as they scored five on four hits and one error. The Lady Muleriders scored one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth.

Clayton went 2-for-2 for Harding.

Hanna Gill (5-1) got the win for Southern Arkansas, pitching two innings and gave up three hits. Shelby Miller got her fourth save for the Lady Muleriders, pitching three innings. Danielle Hubbard (6-7) got the loss for Harding.

Harding will be back in action next weekend at home against Arkansas-Monticello. First pitch on Friday is at 2 p.m.
