Harding Softball Completes Series Sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday

Amber Rollins pitched a complete game and got her 14th win in the first game.

SEARCY  – The Harding softball team swept Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday in Great American Conference action, winning 4-1 and 10-2. It was the Lady Bisons first series sweep as Harding won both games on Friday.

Harding moves to 25-18 overall and 17-13 in the GAC. The Bulldogs fall to 10-28 overall and 6-20 in the GAC.

Game One

Harding 4, Southwestern Oklahoma 1

Harding got things going in the bottom of the first when Carolyn Clayton doubled down the left field line to score Courtney Derrick from third and Kinsey Beck from second.

The Lady Bisons scored again in the fourth inning when Derrick singled through the right side to score Marley Edwards.

Edwards knocked in Harding's fourth run in the fifth after Kimmy Hendricks tripled to right center field.

Southwestern Oklahoma's run came in the fourth when Adrienne Martinez came around to score from second on a Harding fielding error. Southwestern Oklahoma left 10 runners on base in the game.

Amber Rollins (14-8) pitched a complete game for Harding to get the win. Rollins, who leads the GAC in strikeouts, struck out six batters and gave up one run. Julianne Martinez (6-13) got the loss for Bulldogs.

Six different Harding players had a hit in the game, led by Derrick who had two.

Game Two

Harding 10, Southwestern Oklahoma 2 (5 Innings)

Harding jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Kinsey Beck knocked in the Lady Bisons first run to setup Carolyn Clayton who hit a two-run homer to center field. It was her fourth of the season. Harding's fourth run came off a double by Amanda Berdon. The Lady Bisons had five hits in the inning.

Harding scored one in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth and then two in the fifth to end the game. It was the first time the Lady Bisons have run ruled a team this season.

The Lady Bisons hit a Harding record five doubles in the game and had 15 hits. It was the third time this season, Harding has had 15 or more hits in a game.

Six different Harding players had multiple hits. Courtney Chambers led the Lady Bisons going 3-for-3.

Danielle Hubbard (9-8) got the win for Harding. She pitched four innings, giving up four hits and two runs. Molly Vivo (2-8) got the loss for Southwestern Oklahoma.

Harding will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Russellville, Ark., to face Arkansas Tech in GAC doubleheader that starts at 4 p.m.
