HARDING
- Harding looks to continue its winning ways this weekend as it participates in the Eckerd College Spring Invitational in Clearwater, Florida. The Lady Bisons will face Nova Southeastern, and Saint Leo on Friday and then face Lynn and Barry on Saturday. It will be the first time Harding has played any of the teams.
- The Lady Bisons are coming off a 2-0 weekend. Harding hosted Christian Brothers last Saturday in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons won the first game 9-1 in six innings and then won the second game 18-8 in five innings. Sophomore infielder Marley Edwards led Harding with six hits including a double and a triple. She also drove in a team-high five runs. Senior pitcher Amber Rollins picked up her first win of the 2015 season in the first game, as she went the distance and striking out five batters.
- Harding returns 13 position players and all nine starters from last season.
- The Lady Bisons will be playing four of its scheduled 10 neutral site games this weekend. Harding went 6-5 last season on a neutral playing field.Â
- The Lady Bisons will be looking for their third straight win on Friday. Harding opened last season 2-0 before falling to Emporia State 5-1 in the Tarleton State Tournament.
- Harding has eight players that are hitting over .400 and six players hitting over .500 after the Christian Brothers series. Behind Marley Edwards (.857), sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Jones is hitting .750 with three hits all being doubles.
NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
- Nova Southeastern is a NCAA Division II member of the Sunshine State Conference. The Sharks head into the tournament with a 2-0 record after defeating Ave Maria, 5-4 and 5-2.
- Nova Southeastern is led by senior outfielder Lorena Spaulding who went 5-for-5 against Ave Maria with three RBIs. Junior outfielder Te Reo Powhiri Matautia is hitting .571 with four hits and one RBI.
- Rebecca Thornton posted a 0.88 ERA against Ave Maria. Thornton struck out five in eight innings of work.
- Nova Southeastern is coached by Lesa Bonee who is in her 18th season. She has compiled a 398-275-1 record at the helm of the Sharks.
SAINT LEO
- Saint Leo is also a NCAA Division II member of the Sunshine State Conference. The Lions head into the tournament with a 2-0 record after sweeping Flagler on Sunday.
- Sophomore utility player Rachael Heath went 3-for-6 in the series, including a homerun and two RBIs. Freshman infielder Ciera Schumaker and redshirt sophomore catcher Tori Thomas both went 3-for-7 and Schumaker had a double and drove in three.
- Junior pitcher Alana Tabel ended with a 1.24 ERA on Sunday. She struck out five batters in 5 2-3 innings. Senior pitcher Ashley Ehlers struck out seven in six innings of work against Flagler.
- Saint Leo is coached by Erin Kinberger who is in her first season. She was previously at Fort Hays State in Kansas.
LYNN
- Lynn is also a NCAA Division II member of the Sunshine State Conference and will be playing its first games of the 2015 season at the tournament.
- Last season Lynn had a 21-30 record and finished ninth in the SSC standings.
- The Fighting Knights had an 11-6 record on neutral fields last season.
- Senior infielder Cherise McEnery is the top returner for Lynn. She hit .279 last season with 11 homeruns and 34 RBIs.
- Pitcher Missy Montgomery returns for her senior season after going 9-10 last season with a 3.14 ERA.
- The Fighting Knights are coached by Amy Bellisari who is in her fourth season.
BARRY
- Barry is also a NCAA Division II member of the Sunshine State Conference. It will also be opening its season at the tournament.
- Last season Barry had a 27-20 overall record and finished tied for fifth in the SSC Standings with a 10-13 record.
- The Buccaneers return all nine starters from last season and return one starting pitcher.
- Senior outfielder Kayla Ogle led Barry with a .386 batting average. She had 56 hits and seven RBIs. Senior infielder Julie Brito hit .341 and drove in a team best 32.
- Junior pitcher Tylor Sabol is the top returning pitcher for the Buccaneers. She had a 3.07 ERA last season.
- Barry is coached by Danielle Penner who has a 326-148 record in nine seasons at the helm of the Buccaneers.Â
